Doctors of Audiology

The Doctors of Audiology at Hearing Zone strive to help people hear better and improve their quality of life. We take great responsibility to giving back an individual’s hearing and know the significance it can have in people’s lives.

Garr J. Crookston, Au.D.

Hearing Zone was opened in 1976 by Dr. Garr Crookston, a prominent member in the field of audiology for over 40 years. After expanding to 10 offices across Idaho and Utah, he opened his final 2 offices in the Bay Area in 2006. He now resides in Alameda where he enjoys painting with his wife and artist Nancy Seamons Crookston.

  • Appointed by the Governor of Idaho to the State Board of Examiners for Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters, 1981.
  • Elected as Vice Chairperson to the Iowa State Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology, 1977.
  • Appointed by the Governor of Iowa to the State Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology, 1976.
  • Vice-President, Davenport Area Association for the Hearing Impaired, 1975-1976.
  • Served as president of the USU Speech and Hearing Association (USUSHA), 1969.

Garr Crookston, Doctor of Audiology

Courtney Cook, Au.D

Dr. Courtney Cook is a California native specializing in audiology. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from University of the Pacific. She enrolled in Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, AZ through A.T. Still University, where she earned her Au.D. Dr. Cook completed her residency in Plymouth, MA in private practice. Through Dr. Cook’s continual education, she has thoroughly enjoyed working with the hard of hearing.

Dr. Cook returned to California in 2012 and currently resides in the Bay Area with her husband, new son, and their cat. While she usually enjoys a quiet life at home crafting and reading, she also has a lifelong love of traveling. Her travels range from a mission trip in Honduras as a teenager to a trip in Russia earlier this year.

Courtney Cook, Doctor of Audiology

Jane Trauba Sliheet, Au.D

From private practice to the Veteran’s Administration, Jane has worked in various Audiology settings in the Bay area. She has lived in Alameda for about 30 years and plans on staying for many years to come. She enjoys doing art, swimming, bike riding, sewing, playing in a bell choir and spending time with her husband and son.
